News Release - January 14, 2009 LARIVIERE INQUESTAn inquest into the death of Victor Jay Lariviere will be held January 19 to 21, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Pinehouse Lake ACL facility in the Village of Pinehouse Lake, Saskatchewan. Lariviere, aged 40, died January 2, 2007 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Section 19 of The Coroners Act, 1999 states that the Chief Coroner shall hold an inquest where, after conducting an investigation, the Chief Coroner is of the opinion that an inquest is necessary to ascertain: the identity of the deceased and determine how, when, where and by what means he or she died; inform the public of the circumstances surrounding a death; bring dangerous practices or conditions to light and facilitate the making of recommendations to avoid preventable deaths; or educate the public about dangerous practices or conditions to avoid preventable deaths.
