News Release - May 31, 2006 FINAL SASKATCHEWAN CENTENNIAL MEDALS PRESENTED
Lieutenant Governor Lynda Haverstock will present the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal to recipients tonight in Regina.
It is the final Saskatchewan Centennial Medal presentation event, and among the recipients are cast members of the hit television series Corner Gas. "It has been an extraordinary privilege to present the Centennial Medal to our outstanding citizens," Haverstock said. "These medal recipients exemplify work ethic, foresight, compassion, decency, excellence and courage. They are what make Saskatchewan great." "Although we will present the last Centennial Medal tonight, we will continue to celebrate the people of Saskatchewan who continue to make valued contributions to the quality of life of their fellow citizens here, across the nation and internationally," Provincial Secretary Glenn Hagel said. The Medal recognizes the important role that individuals have played in the development of communities in the province. Recipients were selected based on the recommendation of government and non-government organizations and Members of the Legislative Assembly. Approximately 4,200 individuals received the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal in 2005 and 2006. -30- For More Information, Contact:
