NEW PUBLICATIONS CENTRE LAUNCHED

The Government of Saskatchewan launched a new Publications Centre today that will use the Internet to provide "one-stop shopping" for government information and publications. This service is the first of its kind in Canada and brings existing technology and applications together to form a centralized access point for the public.

The Publications Centre offers instant access to government publications and information from dozens of websites, online distribution options and links to related documents. Users will be able to conduct these on-line searches by visiting www.publications.gov.sk.ca.

"As more and more people use the Internet to access information, it is vital that we, as a Government, proactively meet the changing needs of citizens," Justice Minister Frank Quennell said.

This government-wide initiative is a collaborative effort between the Queen's Printer, Information Technology Office and Saskatchewan Property Management. It includes major documents from every government department, the majority of Crown corporations and many related agencies, boards and commissions.
