News Release - May 10, 2006 PROVINCE COMMITS TO HUDSON BAY HEALTH FACILITY EXPANSION
Health Minister Len Taylor today announced that the province is committing $500,000 to expand the Hudson Bay Health Care Facility by five long-term care beds.
"Our commitment today to this project is part of an investment in a strong network of health care facilities across the province," Taylor said at a ceremony in the town. "We recognize that long-term care residents are among the most vulnerable in our society. We work with the province's health regions to improve the quality of health services and ensure access to care." The building expansion will increase the facility's capacity, allowing it to serve an additional five long-term care residents. "We are excited about moving forward with planning and working with our municipal partners in Hudson Bay and surrounding area, as well as Saskatchewan Health, to see this project through to completion," Kelsey Trail Health Region acting CEO Joe Kirwan said. "With input from the community, Kelsey Trail Health Region identified the need for increasing the long-term care beds in Hudson Bay," Regional Health Authority chair Carol Hayward said.
