$10.8 MILLION TO ÉCOLE ST. ANNE SCHOOL SUPPORTS GROWTH

École St. Anne School students celebrated today when Education Minister Ken Krawetz visited the school to announce $10.8 million in government funding for an estimated $14.1 million school capital project.

"This investment exemplifies the benefits of the Ready for Growth initiative that is helping us grow our economy, improve our quality of life and take pride in where we live," Krawetz said. "A new school facility at the existing École St. Anne School location will provide a better learning environment and will assist in meeting the demands of the growing student population."

"Our school division is very pleased with this announcement and looks forward to partnering with the community and the city to enhance educational and recreational opportunities for this part of Prince Albert," Prince Albert Separate School board chair George Bolduc said. "Not only will our students benefit, but the entire community as well."

This project is currently entering into the detailed design phase and is tentatively planned to break ground in 2009. The school division is proposing to partner with the city and the Westhill Community Club to better serve the needs of this community. Such a partnership will provide more opportunities and community access for a variety of activities during the day, evenings and weekends and will support enhanced school programming.

The École St. Anne School project is part of the Government of Saskatchewan's Ready for Growth commitment of $117.6 million for Kindergarten to Grade 12 school capital including nine major and 36 block funding projects. An additional eight major capital projects were also announced May 13, including an estimated $60.3 million to support six projects to move forward in 2009.
