SASKATCHEWAN SCHOLARSHIP OF HONOUR RECIPIENTS RECOGNIZED

Premier Brad Wall held a special luncheon today to recognize the 11 inaugural recipients of the Saskatchewan Scholarship of Honour, which shows our admiration and respect for the sacrifices of Saskatchewan men and women serving in the Canadian Forces.

"The Scholarship of Honour recognizes all individuals who stand up for peace and freedom with courage and dedication," Wall said. "Our government is pleased to bestow this scholarship on Saskatchewan's returning soldiers, and the sons and daughters of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice."

The scholarship is a one-time award of $5,000 for post-secondary education to recognize their commitment to our country.

Eligible candidates are assessed on the following criteria:

  • Current or former residents of Saskatchewan;
  • Returning soldiers who actively served in military operations in the Canadian Forces after January 2001, or the spouse and/or children of severely injured or deceased soldiers who served after January 2001; and
  • Enrolled in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution

Scholarship awards are initiated by the candidate's application and are distributed by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour to returning soldiers and their families.
