News Release - December 9, 2011 CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAY SEASON AT GOVERNMENT HOUSEMinister responsible for the Office of the Provincial Capital Commission Bill Hutchinson invites citizens and visitors to Saskatchewan's capital to attend an Old-Fashioned Victorian Christmas at Government House in Regina on Saturday, December 10, 2011. "The Old-Fashioned Victorian Christmas is quickly becoming one of the capital city's favourite events of the year, because it gives all of us a reason to get together as friends and neighbours to celebrate not only the history and traditions of our province but the holiday season," Hutchinson said. The Old-Fashioned Victorian Christmas will begin at 6:30 pm and run until 8:30 pm. Several indoor and outdoor activities are planned for the event, including horse-drawn wagon rides throughout the Edwardian Gardens. Christmas carollers and a storyteller will also be on hand, as well as a very special guest all the way from the North Pole. The Amédée Forget Museum will be open to visitors and will be decorated in traditional Victorian Christmas décor. Family photos will also be taken at the event which can be downloaded from the Provincial Capital Commission website. The Provincial Capital Commission was established in April 2010, with the goal of promoting and preserving the distinct heritage and cultural entities within the capital city, including Government House, Wascana Centre Authority, the Saskatchewan Archives, Conexus Arts Centre and the Territorial Building.
