DIDUCK INQUEST

An inquest into the death of Brian Diduck will be held April 26th - 29th, 2004, at 9:30 a.m. at the Saskatoon Queen's Bench Courthouse, 520 Spadina Crescent East.

Mr. Diduck, aged 43 years, died November 20th, 2002, while in custody of the Saskatoon Police Service.

Section 20 of The Coroners Act requires an inquest to be held into the death of any person who dies while an inmate in a jail, penitentiary, lock-up or correctional facility, unless the death was due to natural causes and was not preventable.

In addition to establishing who died, when and where the individual died and the medical cause of death, the coroner's jury may make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future. Inquests are open to the public.

Coroner Doug Kovatch of Regina will preside at the inquest.
