FORMER LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR PORTRAIT UNVEILED

Provincial Secretary Joan Beatty accepted the official portrait of former Lieutenant Governor The Honourable J.E.N. (Jack) Wiebe in the Legislative Building today.

The portrait, painted by Moose Jaw artist Yvette Moore, will become part of the art collection in the Qu'Appelle Gallery. The Gallery features the portraits of Saskatchewan Lieutenant Governors, commissioned by various governments since the establishment of the Province in 1905.

Jack Wiebe served as Saskatchewan's 18th Lieutenant Governor from 1994 to 2000 and Chancellor of the Saskatchewan Order of Merit during the same period.

"It is important to recognize and honour our former Lieutenant Governors and the vital role they played in helping to shape this province," Beatty said. "Mr. Wiebe represents the spirit and diversity of the people of this province, and did so with the dignity befitting the title of Lieutenant Governor."
