News Release - October 2, 2009 HONOURING SASKATCHEWAN'S PROTECTIVE SERVICES PERSONNELLieutenant Governor Gordon Barnhart and Provincial Secretary June Draude presented the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal to 31 recipients in Saskatoon today. The medal recognizes individuals who have 25 years or more of exemplary service protecting the people of Saskatchewan or their property. This can be in either a volunteer or a full-time capacity. "Each of these individuals represents a long tradition of ingenuity, dedication and excellence - the true character of Saskatchewan," Draude said. "I am honoured to stand beside those who have dedicated their careers to protecting the people of this province." Established in 2003, the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal is administered by the Saskatchewan Protocol Office in close co-operation with the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police, Saskatchewan Firefighters Association and other agencies whose personnel are eligible for the honour.
