LEGAL GUIDE FOR SASKATCHEWAN WOMEN NOW AVAILABLE

Saskatchewan women can now get legal information in A Guide to the Law for Saskatchewan Women, released today at the Saskatchewan Women's Conference in Saskatoon. Public Legal Education Association (PLEA) produced the Guide with funding from Saskatchewan Labour's Status of Women Office. It is the only document of its kind available in Saskatchewan.

"The Guide provides comprehensive, easy to understand legal information on a broad range of topics that affect women," Co-Director of PLEA Doug Surtees said. "Although beneficial to all Saskatchewan women, the guide is particularly beneficial to women whose access to legal services is limited or non-existent."

"Many women who experience relationship violence, workplace harassment or financial difficulties do not get the information they need because of privacy or safety concerns for themselves or their families," Minister Responsible for the Status of Women Deb Higgins said. "A Guide to the Law for Saskatchewan Women allows women to get the knowledge they require without harassment or victimization."

A Guide to the Law for Saskatchewan Women was officially released today at the Saskatchewan Women's Conference in Saskatoon. For a copy of the Guide, contact the PLEA office at (306) 653-1868.
