NEW DEVELOPMENT FOR BUFFALO POUND PROVINCIAL PARK
The government announced today a $518,838 contract has been awarded to Cardinal Construction Co. Ltd. from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan for the construction of a new campground service centre in Buffalo Pound Provincial Park.
The service centre, which is part of the Trails End Campground development, will provide modern washroom and shower facilities for campers. The new campground is part of government's commitment to improve Saskatchewan parks by providing new camping opportunities as well as adding electrical service to 1,000 campsites over four years.
"Our provincial parks are popular destination points for Saskatchewan residents and visitors," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Dustin Duncan said. "The Trails End Campground will give more people the opportunity to enjoy Buffalo Pound Provincial Park. The new service centre will ensure campers have clean and accessible washroom and shower facilities during their stay."
The creation of the Trails End Campground development was announced in 2008. The new campground is scheduled to open for the 2010 camping season and will include 76 new campsites with electrical service, a water-distribution system, satellite toilet buildings, site landscaping and an upgraded access road to enhance traffic security.
