News Release - June 20, 2005 BUSINESS TAX REVIEW COMMITTEE VISITS NORTH BATTLEFORD
The Saskatchewan Business Tax Review Committee wants to know what changes would make North Battleford an even better place to do business. The committee will be in North Battleford this Thursday, June 23rd. Committee members are eager to hear from local business owners and interested groups.
"We are interested in hearing what people, in and around North Battleford, are thinking about business taxes," Committee Chair Jack Vicq said. "We are here to listen to opinions, discuss ideas, and provide final recommendations to the government that will support business, encourage economic growth and create jobs." The Committee is reviewing provincial business taxes, including tax rates and tax expenditures. Resource royalties, as well as local taxes, including property taxes, are not included in the committee's mandate. The North Battleford meeting will start at 10 o'clock Thursday morning at the Tropical Inn. Submissions and presentations that have been made to the committee so far, along with information regarding the process involved in appearing before the panel can be found on the committee's website at: www.gov.sk.ca/btrc. Public consultations have already been held in Yorkton, Estevan, Swift Current and Prince Albert. Meetings are also scheduled for Regina and Saskatoon. "It is the experience and ideas of Saskatchewan business people that will help shape the direction of this review and our final recommendations," Vicq said. "We have heard excellent presentations across the province and the committee and I are looking forward to the consultations in North Battleford." -30- For More Information, Contact:
