News Release - September 3, 2010 SASKJOBS.CA REPORTS HIGHEST MONTHLY JOB TOTAL IN 22 MONTHS10,318 jobs posted in August The number of opportunities for Saskatchewan job seekers took a big jump in August. A total of 10,318 jobs were posted to the SaskJobs.ca website by Saskatchewan employers in August 2010, a 25 per cent increase over the same month last year and the highest monthly job total since October 2008. Jobs were posted in 269 Saskatchewan communities. Since January 1, employers have placed 73,281 jobs on the site. "With the lowest unemployment rate in Canada and record employment for each of the past six months, Saskatchewan's economy is creating more opportunities than ever," Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris said. "Today's numbers are another indicator that people across Saskatchewan are benefiting from those opportunities."
Of the 10,318 jobs posted in August: August 2010 also saw more than 750,000 visits to SaskJobs.ca - a 31 per cent increase over the same month last year. So far in 2010, the site has hosted 6 million visits, compared to 4.6 million for the same period last year. "SaskJobs continues to be a hub for job seekers in Saskatchewan, across Canada and around the world," Norris said. "With more than 7,600 vacancies listed right now, opportunities are still available." SaskJobs.ca is Saskatchewan's largest job-matching website.
