SASKATCHEWAN LEARNING ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR SCHOOL RENOVATION

The Government of Saskatchewan is investing approximately $2 million in renovations to Debden School.

The announcement was made this afternoon at a sod-turning ceremony at Debden School located approximately 100 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert.

"This funding reflects the provincial government's commitment to providing modern, well-equipped learning facilities across Saskatchewan," Saskatchewan Rivers MLA Lon Borgerson, who attended the ceremony on behalf of Learning Minister Andrew Thomson said. "This investment will provide an enhanced learning environment for students and teachers at Debden School."

The renovations to this K-12 school will include:

·additional teaching stations;

·a state-of-the-art computer lab;

·a common area for senior students;

·improvements to the practical and applied arts area;

·roof replacement; and

·improvements to the air circulation system.

The total project cost of approximately $2.6 million will be shared with the Parkland School Division.

"Schools today are more important than ever as vital centres of our communities," Borgerson added. "We need to continue to upgrade learning facilities so they can serve Saskatchewan communities well."
