News Release - May 31, 2005 UPGRADING THREE SWIFT CURRENT AREA SCHOOLS
The Government of Saskatchewan is investing approximately $382,000 to improve three schools in the Swift Current area.
"When we invest in capital projects for education, we are investing in our students and in the future of Saskatchewan," Learning Minister Andrew Thomson said. "These projects show our continued commitment to improving Saskatchewan schools." The capital projects include: • The Gull Lake School Division will receive approximately $275,000 for renovations to Gull Lake School; • The Eston-Elrose School Division will receive approximately $82,000 for the recently replaced roof of Elrose Composite High School; and • The Maple Creek School Division will receive approximately $25,000 in preliminary planning money for an addition and renovation to Maple Creek Composite High School. These projects will be cost-shared with the school divisions listed above. These projects are part of the provincial government's investment of $6.2 million to improve 32 Saskatchewan schools. With these projects, the total commitment by government to K-12 capital projects this fiscal year is $26.6 million.
