Today Deputy Premier Ken Krawetz and the Deputy Head of the Zhytomyr Oblast State Administration, Mykola Deysan, signed a Memorandum of Intent (MOI) between Saskatchewan and Zhytomyr Oblast in Ukraine.

"Saskatchewan is always on the lookout for new business and trade opportunities, as well as strengthening our ongoing relationships with current economic partners," Krawetz said. "That is why today's signing is so important. Throughout our province's history the people of Ukraine have played an integral part in the building of Saskatchewan. I look
forward to working with my colleagues in Zhytomyr to form new economic and cultural ties."

The MOI formally establishes a desire by both provinces for increased mutual understanding, friendship and closer economic ties. It will serve as a basis for identifying and exploring economic partnerships, specifically in the area of agricultural co-operation.

"For Saskatchewan to remain a leader in economic development in North America, we need to continue to foster these kinds of relationships and work with our partners around the globe." Krawetz said.

As a forerunner to today's signing, Krawetz led a Saskatchewan delegation to Ukraine this fall, with representatives from the Saskatchewan-Ukraine Relations Advisory Committee.
