News Release - September 11, 2003 NEW NUMBERS: WEST NILE VIRUS
There are 43 new probable and confirmed cases of clinical illness due to West Nile Virus in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of cases to 193.
Although mosquito numbers are decreasing the risk of West Nile Virus disease will continue for the next couple of weeks depending on the weather. "It is important for Saskatchewan residents to continue to take preventative measures. In particular, use insect repellents, wear appropriate clothing, and avoid exposure to mosquitoes when possible," Deputy Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Eric Young said.
