PREMIER EXTENDS CONDOLENCES TO GREAT BRITAIN

On behalf of the people of Saskatchewan, Premier Lorne Calvert extended condolences and sympathies to Prime Minister Tony Blair on the terrorist attacks today in London that resulted in hundreds of casualties and effectively shut down the city.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the citizens of London and Great Britain today," Calvert said. "As we stand with our friends and families, here and abroad, we offer comfort and support. We also try to understand the perspective of those who are driven to such acts.

As the ultimate act of civic destabilization, terrorism only serves to strengthen our will and resolve to stand together for the sake of our families and friends, and for active social responsibility and civic duty," the Premier added.

To honour the casualties of today's tragic bombings in London, flags will be lowered to half-mast at provincial and federal government buildings across Saskatchewan.
