PROVINCIAL INVESTMENTS IN CAPITAL PROJECTS IMPROVING QUALITY OF LIFE IN PARKLAND WEST

From road construction to improved diagnostic services, residents in areas around Parkland West are benefiting directly from the Government of Saskatchewan's ongoing commitment to make life better for families. The government has recently invested more than $34 million in capital projects in the region.

"Our government is committed to sharing the benefits of our strong economy with people throughout the province by investing in communities and infrastructure improvements," Regional Economic and Co-operative Development Minister Lon Borgerson said while visiting with residents and businesses in Spiritwood today. "We have been able to provide funding for a variety of capital projects that will enhance the quality of life for people living in the area, improve the business climate and give people even more reason to live, work and build their future in Saskatchewan.

"This region also attracts thousands of tourists who come to visit our world famous lakes and resorts, and we are making the investments necessary to support the tourism sector, which contributes significantly to Saskatchewan's vibrant and growing economy."

Projects that have received funding include upgrades to the Eigenfeld Road and Grid 695 to support agricultural and commercial operators, including the new International Debranning Inc. plant that is being constructed in the RM of Rosthern. An additional $4.6 million will be spent to resurface 34.6 kilometres of Hwy 2. Investments have also been made in diagnostic health equipment, improved digital cellular service and water systems in the area.

"This year's infrastructure budget is the largest ever," Borgerson said. "By investing in our highways, cultural and recreational facilities, health care systems and municipal infrastructure, we are ensuring that communities province-wide can benefit from the many opportunities being created by Saskatchewan's growing economy."
