News Release - May 10, 1999 CASINO FUNDS SUPPORT STAY IN SCHOOL PROGRAM IN SWIFT CURRENT
John Wall, MLA for Swift Current, on behalf of Municipal Affairs,
Culture and Housing Minister Carol Teichrob, today announced that the Prairie West School Division received $27,300 from casino profits through the Associated Entities Fund. "The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people," Wall said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $3.5 million in casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for programs that support children, youth and families." The Prairie West School Division, in partnership with the Swift Current School Division, has established a stay in school program which works with both parents and their children to encourage youth to remain in school.
