WEST NILE VIRUS UPDATE

There are 25 new probable and confirmed cases of clinical illness due to West Nile Virus in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of cases to 418.

"Our data indicates the latest cases being reported are from infections acquired in mid to late August," Chief Medical Health Officer for Saskatchewan Dr. Ross Findlater said. "The peak infection period has passed, but if people see mosquitoes they are reminded to take precautions against being bitten."

The media is informed that after today, updates on the number of cases will only be posted on the Saskatchewan Health website at www.health.gov.sk.ca. Updated information will be available by 4pm.
