CASINO FUNDS SUPPORT PROGRAMMING FOR YOUTH

Last Mountain Touchwood MLA Dale Flavel announced, on behalf of

Municipal Affairs, Culture and Housing Minister Carol Teichrob, that

community groups in Wynyard, Southey, Strasbourg, Lestock, Raymore and

surrounding communities received $12,550 from casino profits through

the Associated Entities Fund.

"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a

portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"

Flavel said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $4.5 million in

casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for

programs that support children, youth and families."

The Town of Wynyard Recreation Department received $1,000 toward the

Wynyard Summer Active Youth Program. This program is designed for

youth aged eight - 14, including those with disabilities, to

participate in summer activities which eliminate social, racial and

economic barriers.

Zone 5 Sports Council Inc. and the Blackstrap Regional Recreational

Association received $2,100 toward a Summer Fun Recreation Sports

Camp, allowing children and youth with an opportunity to participate

in a summer sport which they would otherwise not have access to.

The Southey Health Action Centre and the Southey Recreation

Association received $950 Toward a Summer Play Program, designed

to build confidence and independence in children aged four - 12.

The Strasbourg Recreation Board and the William Derby School

participate in summer activities.

The Lestock Interagency Kids Effort and the Family Resource

Centre received $3,500 to provide opportunities in sports,

culture and recreation activities.

Raymore Recreation Board and the Town of Raymore received $3,500

toward the Day Care Summer Program. This is designed to provide

educational, art and physical activities to children ages four -

ten in the communities of Raymore, Semans, Quinton, Punnichy,

Kawacatoose and Gordons Reserve.

Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from

Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino in North Battleford, the
