News Release - May 13, 2010 CROP REPORT FOR PERIOD FROM MAY 4 TO MAY 10, 2010Saskatchewan farmers have five per cent of the 2010 crop seeded, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture's Weekly Crop Report. Rain and snow passed through most of the province during the past week. Heavy rain and snow was reported in areas in the southwest. A few days of drying weather are needed to get most farmers back in the field. Some areas of the northwest experienced no weather disruptions, and farmers there have been seeding uninterrupted for the past week. Farmers in the southwest and southeast have seven and six per cent of their respective crops seeded. Across the province, topsoil moisture conditions remain relatively unchanged from last week. Cropland topsoil moisture is rated as 35 per cent surplus, 64 per cent adequate and one per cent short. Topsoil moisture on hay land and pasture is rated as 19 per cent surplus, 77 per cent adequate and four per cent short.
