News Release - November 21, 2012 MORE THAN $2 MILLION IN SCHOLARSHIPS GRANTED THROUGH THE SASKATCHEWAN ADVANTAGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMAdvanced Education Minister Don Morgan announced today that the Government of Saskatchewan has authorized more than 4,000 scholarships worth more than $2 million through the Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship program. The Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship was launched this past spring and provides new Saskatchewan Grade 12 graduates who enroll at a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution with a scholarship of up to $500 per year to a lifetime maximum of $2,000 over 10 years. "Our government understands the importance of post-secondary education and we want to ensure it is accessible and affordable for students," Morgan said. "I am pleased with the large number of Saskatchewan students who have already received the Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship to help them pursue their post-secondary education in the province." Effective April 1, 2012, the Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship reduces tuition for students entering post-secondary programs and applies to a broad array of Saskatchewan post-secondary institutions and programs. "The new Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship fulfills our government's platform commitment to support recent high school graduates including Adult Basic Education and General Education Development, in the completion of their post-secondary education and seize the tremendous opportunities that Saskatchewan has to offer," Morgan said. Updated information on the scholarship is posted on the Ministry of Advanced Education's website at www.aeei.gov.sk.ca/scholarship-sas. -30- For more information, contact:
