NEW GROUP HOME PLANNED FOR MOOSE JAW AREA

People with intellectual disabilities will have more independence and a better quality of life due to the development of South View Home, just south of Moose Jaw.

"The South View initiative demonstrates our government's commitment to include people with disabilities in their communities," Social Services Minister Donna Harpauer said. "South View Home will be a welcome addition to the network of quality supports that are already available for people with disabilities throughout Saskatchewan.

Slated to open this fall, South View Home is a government-owned three-bedroom bungalow overlooking the Wakamow Valley. The group home will have the capacity to support three people with disabilities and will feature residential services by well-trained staff.

South View Home will be operated by the Ministry of Social Services. Approximately $75,000 in renovations is necessary to meet the needs of the residents and to ensure safety and the delivery of quality services.

"We are pleased to provide another residential option for people with intellectual disabilities," Harpauer said.
