CENTENARY FUND CONTRIBUTES TO EMERGENCY RESPONSE CENTRE

Regina Beach and Buena Vista area residents now have a new emergency response centre thanks to a contribution from the province's Centenary Fund.

The province contributed $103,000 toward the cost of the $226,000 facility. The 2640 square foot facility is large enough to house three fire trucks as well as a training/meeting room. The Regina Beach and Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Department serves residents of Regina Beach and Buena Vista and the surrounding area.

"This new fire hall is a good example of the diverse ways that Saskatchewan people are partnering with government to build on the quality of life in Saskatchewan," Highways and Transportation Minister and Regina Qu'Appelle MLA Mark Wartman said on behalf of Government Relations Minister Ron Osika. "The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to support this project which will enhance the safety and well-being of the people of Regina Beach and Buena Vista."

"The Regina Beach Council is proud to have participated with our partners in the construction of an Emergency Response Centre to serve the fire safety and emergency medical needs of Regina Beach, Buena Vista and the surrounding rural areas," Regina Beach Mayor Eldon Trytten said. "It is a definite asset to our communities."

"The Buena Vista Council is pleased to partner with the provincial government and our neighbours, Regina Beach, to provide a multi-purpose Emergency Response Centre for our communities," Buena Vista Mayor Larry Hall said. "The facility is designed to provide fire protection, a First Responders centre and training area for many years to come."

The Centenary Fund was set up to leave a legacy of Saskatchewan's Centennial for future generations. Leading up to the centennial celebrations in 2005, the government is funding projects that are of provincial or regional interest and develop municipal infrastructure.
