News Release - September 17, 2012 RIBBON CUTTING TO COMMEMORATE GRAND OPENING OF REGINA’S DOUGLAS PARK SCHOOLToday Education Minister Russ Marchuk joined students, teachers, dignitaries and representatives from the Regina Public School Division to commemorate the grand opening of the new $19.6 million Douglas Park School in Regina.
"We believe that investing in education is essential to the success of our students and the future success of Saskatchewan," Marchuk said. "Two words come to mind with this new school - innovation and discovery. I'm confident that students, teachers and parents will be given a solid educational opportunity in the new Douglas Park School." "This new school building that features flexible learning spaces and student focused design and that is built with environmentally and fiscally responsible construction is a perfect example of how Regina Public Schools is supporting learning in the 21st Century," Regina Board of Education Chairperson Katherine Gagne said. Since November 2007, the Government of Saskatchewan has committed approximately $500 million toward 41 major school capital projects and approximately 860 additional smaller school capital projects across the province.
