MEADOW LAKE OPENS NEW PROVINCIAL OFFICE BUILDING

Premier Lorne Calvert and Meadow Lake MLA Maynard Sonntag participated in a celebration to officially open a new Provincial Office Building in Meadow Lake today.

"This new facility will improve our ability to provide government services to the community of Meadow Lake," Premier Calvert said.

"Of equal importance, however, is the partnership we struck with the Flying Dust First Nation to develop this property. This project provided for training, experience and jobs for First Nations people and it is just one example of how this government is working with First Nations communities to build a strong future for our province."

The 2,800-square metre facility, located at 101 Railway Place in Meadow Lake, is now home to Environment, Social Services, Agriculture, Food and Rural Revitalization, the Legal Aid Commission and the Saskatchewan Property Management Corporation.

The facility was built by Flying Dust First Nation and is leased to the province through the Saskatchewan Property Management Corporation.

"By putting all these agencies together in one facility we're making it easier for citizens in the Meadow Lake area to access government services," Sonntag said.

All government agencies were moved into the facility in December 2002.
