News Release - July 25, 2005 PROVINCE'S INVESTMENT RECOGNIZED AT CHITEK LAKE CELEBRATION
During centennial celebrations at Chitek Lake Recreation Site, a centenary plaque was unveiled to recognize the province's $25,000 investment in the park. Centenary funds were used to replace playground equipment.
"The improvements will ensure park visitors will experience a safe and enjoyable park visit," Environment Minister David Forbes said. Through the four-year, $120 million Centenary Fund program, the provincial parks program received $6.8 million to complete important capital projects within provincial parks, historic sites and recreation sites for Saskatchewan's centennial. Saskatchewan's provincial parks system celebrates our diverse natural and cultural heritage and is an important legacy for future generations. Each park highlights specific natural or historic features and offers a range of recreational and educational opportunities. Throughout the centennial year, Saskatchewan will continue to host a variety of special events and initiatives in celebration of the province's centennial.
