News Release - February 26, 2004 CALENDAR FEATURES STUDENTS' ARTWORK
Saskatchewan students' winning farm safety artwork is featured in Saskatchewan Labour's 2004 Farm Safety Calendar.
The Grand Prize winner is Rebecca Clark, a 10-year old student from Dr. Isman Elementary School in Wolseley. Rebecca will receive $100 for her poster highlighting hazards associated with snowmobiling. "On a farm, your home is also your workplace," Labour Minister Deb Higgins said. "The Farm Safety Calendar is a fun way to educate young people and their families about the responsibility to play and work safely." Artwork for the calendar was chosen from the more than 4,400 entries in this year's Farm Safety Poster contest. More than 24,000 students have entered the contest since its launch in 1996 and Farm Safety Calendars have been distributed to over 220,000 homes and businesses. The contest, open to all students from kindergarten to grade nine, awarded prizes to four age groups in three safety areas - machinery safety, yard and livestock safety, and chemical, electrical and fire safety. The Grand Prize winner received $100, twelve First Prize winners received $50 and twelve Second Prize winners received $25. -30- For More Information, Contact:
