PREMIER ANNOUNCES VISIT BY PRINCE EDWARD

Premier Lorne Calvert announced today that His Royal Highness The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, will visit Saskatchewan from June 1st-3rd.

The main purpose of the visit is the investiture of the Earl as an honorary member of the Saskatchewan Order of Merit. Other engagements will be announced at a later date. The visit is part of a Canadian tour that includes Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

"I am delighted that the Earl of Wessex accepted our invitation to become an honorary member of the Saskatchewan Order of Merit," Calvert said. "This will be his fourth visit to our province and we look forward to renewing our acquaintance with him."

Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, is the youngest son of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. He is patron of the Globe Theatre in Regina and Colonel-in-Chief of the Saskatchewan Dragoons in Moose Jaw. In 2005 he received the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal.

Prince Edward first visited Saskatchewan in 1978 with his parents, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. His previous visits were in 1994 and in 2003.
