LAC LA RONGE HOSTS WESTERN CANADIAN CROSS COUNTRY SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS

Haywood Canada Cup 2008 Western Canadian Championships are underway at Saskatchewan's own Lac La Ronge Provincial Park on the beautiful Don Allen Trails, 20 km north of Lac La Ronge.

"This championship is a great success for the community," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Christine Tell said. "La Ronge can be proud of its high-performance skiers, great trails and strong body of volunteers. Saskatchewan welcomes visiting skiers from other provinces."

On Friday, February 22 Individual and Free Technique skiing starts at 10:00 a.m. Saturday is a rest day and features a banquet at the La Ronge Hotel and Suites. On Sunday, February 24, Classic Technique Skiing starts at 10:00 a.m.

Ski enthusiasts from ages 4 to 64 and beyond will experience the thrill of the sport and the Lac La Ronge's gorgeous terrain. Events will include races from atom to master classes. Spectators are more than welcome to come and cheer on skiers from La Ronge and across western Canada

The La Ronge Ski Club has a newly renovated ski shelter, timing hut and improved stadium area with improved trails.
