STUDENTS FIND REWARDING PROSPECTS WITH MY FUTURE IS HERE

Saskatchewan youth now have $85,000 in reasons to stay home thanks to an innovative program telling students "My Future is Here".

The program, an initiative of Saskatchewan Rotary Clubs, intends to keep youth learning and working in Saskatchewan through funding for youth scholarships and business capital funds. The government has contributed $50,000 to help promote the program.

"This program shows government and private sector working together to help our youth turn their dreams and opportunities into reality," Industry and Resources Minister Eric Cline said. "The Saskatchewan Rotary Youth Foundation is a positive force for change in our communities and this program helps our youth realize their own potential here at home."

The program also offers a "Rant Warz" contest where youth get 25 seconds to say why their future is here in Saskatchewan.

Youth are encouraged to write and submit their rant for online voting at www.myfutureishere.ca, with the winner to perform their rant on camera and become the star of the 2007 My Future is Here television commercial.

Also included in this campaign is the formation of a MyFih (My Future is Here) Youth Advisory Council to promote the campaign throughout the province.

"The Saskatchewan Rotary Youth Foundation is thrilled to announce this year's youth funding opportunities available through My Future is Here," MyFih co-chair Marla Morrison said. "The energy and enthusiasm of the Myfih Youth Advisory Council reinforces our belief in the tremendous potential these young people have to impact our province by building their futures here in Saskatchewan."

Details and application forms for funding programs, contest particulars for Rant Warz, Saskatchewan success stories and resources to support informed decisions for careers are available at www.myfutureishere.ca.
