UPGRADING SCHOOLS IN SASKATOON, HUMBOLDT AND WARMAN

The Government of Saskatchewan is investing $882,800 to improve seven schools in the communities of Saskatoon, Humboldt and Warman.

"We are committed to working with school divisions to provide healthy, comfortable and well equipped learning environments for Saskatchewan students," Learning Minister Deb Higgins said. "An investment in schools is an investment in students and in the future of Saskatchewan."

The capital improvement projects include:

  • $350,000 to the Saskatoon Public School Division for roofing upgrades to Walter Murray Collegiate;
  • $145,000 to the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division for roofing upgrades to Bishop Klein School;
  • $98,800 to the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division for roofing upgrades to Cardinal Leger School;
  • $78,000 to the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division for roofing upgrades to St. Augustine School in Humboldt;
  • $3,000 to the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division to improve accessibility at Bishop Robrecki School;
  • $3,000 to the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division to improve accessibility at St. Augustine School in Saskatoon; and
  • $205,000 to the Prairie Spirit School Division for renovations to Warman High School.

The projects announced today are part of the Government of Saskatchewan's investment of $6.1 million to improve the learning environment in 34 Saskatchewan schools. These include improvements such as roof replacement and restoration, renovations, additions, mechanical system upgrades and building system upgrades. Funding for these projects will be cost-shared with school divisions across the province. Over the past five years the Government has invested $169.2 million in capital improvements to preK-12 schools.

"These school improvement projects are part of the government's commitment to make Saskatchewan the best place for young people to live, work and build strong futures," Higgins said.
