News Release - October 18, 2012 AUGUST WHOLESALE TRADE SECOND-BEST ON RECORDNew wholesale figures for August were released today by Statistics Canada that show trade was up by 8.5 per cent over last August, the third highest growth rate among the provinces. Wholesale trade totalled $1.8 billion in August 2012, the second highest on record for the month of August. "Wholesale trade continues to show gains to support rising activity in most of our key sectors," Economy Minister Bill Boyd said. "The increases reported today show our economic activity continues to move forward at a healthy pace." On the national front, wholesale trade was up 4.4 per cent. "Economic growth in Saskatchewan is sustainable, and the new growth plan will keep us focused on the course of continued prosperity," Boyd said. "These are the second highest figures on record for the month of August, eclipsed only by August 2008.
