SIAST WASCANA CAMPUS OFFICIALLY OPEN

For the first time, the campus brings together more than 2,000 full-time and

8,000 part-time students, and 350 employees. SIAST Wascana is in Regina's

Knowledge Corridor, which includes the University of Regina and the Regina

Research Park.

"Saskatchewan people have always placed a high value on education, training and

innovation," Post-Secondary Education and Skills Training Minister Glenn Hagel

said. "This is an investment that promotes our values and builds our future,

preparing students for a growing and changing job market."

"We take great pride in our new campus, not only the magnificent building but

also the vibrant community of students, faculty and staff," SIAST President Art

Knight said. "Today is truly a landmark event in the life of SIAST Wascana

Campus."

SIAST Wascana campus is the only technical institute in the west located near a

university and a research park. It will help SIAST create new approaches to

learning and new opportunities for innovation while continuing to provide high-

quality, responsive programs and services to students and employers.
