News Release - September 14, 2011 SEPTEMBER 14 PROCLAIMED AS CANADIAN FEDERATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN DAY IN SASKATCHEWANThe Government of Saskatchewan has declared September 14, 2011, as Canadian Federation of University Women Day in Saskatchewan. The Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) is an equality-seeking, advocacy organization that works to advance the human rights of women and girls in Canada. The CFUW is a voluntary, non-profit organization comprised of almost 10,000 graduate women, students and associate members across Canada. There are more than 200 members in Saskatchewan. "The CFUW supports women seeking post-secondary education by providing $20,000 in scholarships annually," Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris said. "Furthermore, they support many community events and initiatives. We're very pleased to announce September 14, 2011, as Canadian Federation of University Women Day in Saskatchewan." "CFUW members in Saskatchewan are dedicated to improving access to education for women, and we support peace, justice, human rights and programs that improve the environment," CFUW Saskatchewan Regional Director Marlene Chatterson said. "Our members appreciate the Government's support, as demonstrated by declaring September 14 as Canadian Federation of University Women Day."
