News Release - May 2, 2012 BUSINESS REGISTRATIONS SASKATCHEWAN ADDS CRA BUSINESS NUMBERNew corporations that register as a business through the Information Services Corporation (ISC) Business Registrations Saskatchewan website now have the added benefit of being assigned a Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Business Number at the same time. "Adding the CRA Business Number is the next step in expanding ISC's Business Registrations Saskatchewan site," Minister responsible for ISC Tim McMillan said. "This will save customers who register a corporation in Saskatchewan from having to apply for a CRA Business Number in a separate process. It supports the overall goal of streamlining processes across government - reducing costs for businesses and government." ISC launched Business Registrations Saskatchewan in 2011, providing one easy to use online process to complete the steps required to register a business with the Corporate Registry, as an employer with Workers' Compensation Board and for Provincial Sales Tax (PST) with the Ministry of Finance. The addition of the CRA Business Number as a fourth benefit to completing the online process further reduces the effort and paperwork required to register a business in Saskatchewan.
The CRA Business Number is used to commonly identify a business with participating public sector programs and services across Canada. It provides customers with convenience by enabling information to be safely and securely shared with other government agencies who are Business Number partners, reducing the need to re-enter information multiple times.
