News Release - November 19, 2009 CROP REPORT FOR THE PERIOD NOV 11 TO 17, 2009Good harvesting weather throughout most of November has allowed Saskatchewan farmers to harvest 97 per cent of the 2009 crop, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture's Weekly Crop Report. Since the beginning of the month, farmers have been able to harvest 17 per cent of the crop. By comparison, only 10 per cent of the provincial crop was harvested in the entire month of October. The northeast region has the most crop still out in the field, reporting that 91 per cent of harvest is complete. The northwest region has 95 per cent of harvest in the bin, the east central has 97 per cent, the west central has 99 per cent, the south east and south west have 99 per cent of the harvest complete. The dry weather has allowed moisture levels to come down in some crops, but some crops are still being harvested on the tough and damp side. Farmers are busy with combining, drying grain, baling straw, hauling bales, cleaning corrals and bringing cattle home from the pastures. -30- For more information, contact:
