UNITED WORLD COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP WINNER

Leanne Alport of Regina has won a scholarship to attend the world-renowned International Baccalaureate Program at Lester B. Pearson United World College in British Columbia this fall.

Leanne, who attends Dr. Martin Leboldus High School in Regina, received the annual provincial scholarship, worth $57,000 this year, sponsored by the college and Saskatchewan Learning.

"The International Baccalaureate Program at Lester B. Pearson College gives students the opportunity to meet fellow students and teachers from around the world, to excel academically and to bring the benefit of that experience home to Saskatchewan," Learning Minister Judy Junor said.

Leanne will begin her two-year study at the college in September. Last year's provincial scholarship winner, Kelsey Rose from Archbishop M.C. O'Neill High School in Regina, will be returning to the college this fall to complete his second year.

Ashley Dubnick from Air Ronge, the recipient of a privately funded northern scholarship from Cameco Corporation, Cogema Resources Incorporated, Mudjatik Thyssen Mining and Northern Resources Trucking will also be returning in the fall to complete her final year at the college.
