SASKATCHEWAN WORKERS RECOGNIZED ON LABOUR DAY

Don Morgan, Minister of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, issued the following statement today in recognition of Labour Day:

"On behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan, I would like to extend sincere thanks to all the hard working men and women of Saskatchewan, as well as the employers, who have helped build this province and who have contributed to our quality of life. The work of Saskatchewan people is driving our economy and helping sustain our economic momentum.

The exceptional growth we are experiencing in our province has meant a lower unemployment rate, increased opportunity for individuals and businesses, and a positive attitude toward working in Saskatchewan. However, it is important to remember that growth and expansion must be tied closely to safety to ensure the health and well-being of Saskatchewan workers.

This Labour Day, we ask that everyone take extra care and remember to make safety a priority at work, at home and in the community. Our government is strongly committed to reducing the rate of workplace injuries because every resident of Saskatchewan deserves to work in a safe and healthy environment.

On behalf of the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety and the Government of Saskatchewan, I wish everyone a safe and restful long weekend this Labour Day."
