News Release - February 8, 2006 TIMMS INQUEST
An inquest into the death of Robert Timms will be held March 22nd-24th, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the Regina Queen's Bench Court House, 2425 Victoria Avenue.
Mr. Timms, aged 31 years, died July 16th, 2005, while an inmate at the Regina Correctional Centre. Section 20 of The Coroners Act, 1999, states that an inquest is to be held when the death of an inmate occurs in a jail, penitentiary, lock-up or correctional facility unless the death was due to natural causes and was not preventable. In addition to establishing who died, when and where the individual died, and the medical cause of death, the Coroner's jury may make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future.
