ADDITIONAL BIG GAME MANAGEMENT LICENCES AVAILABLE

Saskatchewan Environment is offering Big Game Management Licences to people who would like to hunt antlerless white-tailed deer in various locations throughout the province. Antlerless deer are adult females or young animals born in spring 2007.

The Big Game Management Licences are available in portions of Wildlife Management Zones 31, 32, 34, 37, 39 and the Saskatoon Wildlife Management Zone. The licences cost $19.81 and may be purchased in addition to the regular either-sex white-tailed deer licence.

Licences are valid during regular white-tailed deer seasons including archery, muzzleloader and rifle. They are available on a first come, first serve basis, but in some areas will be restricted to two licences per hunter. A map and a list of special provisions will be included with each licence.

Hunters are encouraged to turn in the heads of all adult deer that are harvested with these licences to any Saskatchewan Environment office to test for Chronic Wasting Disease. There is no charge for the testing.

As a condition of the licence, and to track the success of the Big Game Management Licence program, hunters are required to report success/non-success to any Saskatchewan Environment office within one week of the close of the season they hunted in.

Hunters who are interested in purchasing these Big Game Management Licences can contact the Saskatchewan Environment office closest to the wildlife management zone they are interested in hunting in.

More information, including where you can hunt, where licences are available for purchase and the number of licences available in each hunting zone, can be found on Saskatchewan Environment's website at www.environment.gov.sk.ca.
