PREMIER WALL ANNOUNCES FIRST LEGISLATIVE SESSION FOR NEW GOVERNMENT

Sask. Party Government Making History with Fastest Start of Session

Premier Brad Wall today announced that the first legislative session for the new provincial government will begin on Monday, December 10, 2007. This will be the shortest period between an election and the start of a new session in Saskatchewan's history.

"Saskatchewan people have given our new government a clear mandate," Wall said.

"And I have made it clear to the new cabinet and MLAs that I want the Saskatchewan Party government to get to work right away," Wall said. "That includes heading into a session quickly to begin the process of fulfilling the Saskatchewan Party platform. We are going to be a government that keeps its promises."

The Saskatchewan Party government will be introducing several pieces of legislation including legislation to create fixed election dates in Saskatchewan, and stronger balanced budget legislation known as the Saskatchewan Growth and Financial Security Act.

Wall added that the priorities of the Saskatchewan Party government will be the same priorities of Saskatchewan people - ensuring the economic boom turns into long-term prosperity and growth, and making sure the province's growth is used to secure the future for all Saskatchewan people.

The first Throne Speech of the Saskatchewan Party government will be delivered on the first day of the session.
