SCN AIRS GREEN STRATEGY FORUM FEATURING EXPERT IN SUSTAINABILITY

SCN will broadcast live and commercial-free the Green Strategy public forum on Green Economy and Innovation, including the keynote address of Hunter Lovins.

"Hunter Lovins is a worldwide leader in helping companies and communities profit from more environmentally sustainable practices and I am especially pleased that SCN will broadcast Ms. Lovins' speech to people throughout Saskatchewan," Environment MinisterDavid Forbes said. "We are honoured to have her give the keynote address for this public forum, which is gathering and sharing vital information for our province's Green Strategy.

Saskatchewan Environment is leading the development of a provincial Green Strategy to protect the environment while growing the provincial economy. The Saskatoon forum on the Green Economy and Innovation is the sixth in a series that have been held across the province. The forums are an opportunity for audiences to hear from nationally and internationally recognized speakers and to provide their perspective on what the Green Strategy might look like.

Lovins will examaine global approaches to achieving a sustainable economy, highlighting the opportunities and challenges Saskatchewan faces in building a Green Strategy. An author of numerous books, Lovins was named Time Magazine's 'Hero for the Planet' in 2000 and has consulted with governments and the private sector in United States and Europe. Her address will launch the Green Economy and Innovation public forum, the final in a series of six sponsored by the provincial Environment Department.

"Planning our economic strategies with a goal of sustainability is so vital -- human survival depends on it," Saskatchewan Environmental Society program co-ordinator Ann Coxworth said. "Hunter Lovins has a great history of working with all sectors of society to generate sustainable solutions to economic problems. I'm very much looking forward to hearing her speak. I would strongly encourage the people of Saskatchewan to tune into the broadcast of the Green Economy and Innovation Forum on SCN."

SCN will broadcast Ms. Lovins' address to the Green Economy and Innovation forum in Saskatoon, live from 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm on Wednesday, November 2.
