CROP INSURANCE CLAIM DEADLINE NOVEMBER 15TH

Crop Insurance customers who have completed harvest are asked to register their claims immediately. Producers anticipating that they will still have crop in the field as of November 15th should contact Crop Insurance to request an extension of insurance.

"Producers are asked to file their claims as soon as they have completed harvest," Agriculture and Food Minister Mark Wartman said. "Compensating producers for losses in yield and quality as well as wildlife damage, Crop Insurance will pay all eligible claims and put money into the hands of producers as quickly as possible."

November 15th is the deadline to submit production declarations and yield-loss claims. Crop Insurance reminds all customers that production declaration information must be filed before a post-harvest claim can be registered.

Producers who are unlikely to complete harvest by November 15th must apply for an extension of insurance at their customer service office. If coverage is extended, the producer is insured for yield and grade losses occurring over winter, up to their production guarantee.

If abandoning or putting crops to an alternate use, Crop Insurance reminds customers to contact their customer service office to discuss coverage options before November 15th. Any wildlife damage should be reported immediately.
