SEGU INQUEST

An inquest into the death of Patrick Albert Segu will be held April 9-11, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the Regina Queen’s Bench Courthouse, 2425 Victoria Avenue.

Mr. Segu, aged 43 years, died July 29, 2005, while a patient at the Regina General Hospital.

Section 19 of the Coroners Act, 1999, states that the Chief Coroner shall hold an inquest where, after conducting an investigation, the Chief Coroner is of the opinion that an inquest is necessary to identify and determine how, when, where and by what means an individual died.

In addition to establishing the facts of an individual’s death, the coroner’s jury may make recommendations to bring dangerous practices or conditions to light and facilitate the making of recommendations to avoid preventable deaths in the future.  Inquests are open to the public.

Coroner Dirk Silversides of Regina will preside at the inquest.
