SELECTION PROCESS BEGINS FOR ENTERPRISE SASKATCHEWAN BOARD

The Government of Saskatchewan said today that there is very strong interest and high enthusiasm in its new provincial economic development agency, Enterprise Saskatchewan.

Enterprise and Innovation Minister Lyle Stewart said the Ministry has received more than 300 applications for the ten nominee positions available on the Enterprise Saskatchewan Board. All sectors who were invited to participate submitted nominations.

"I am very pleased with the high quality of individuals who have put their names forward for consideration," Stewart said. "Thank you to all of the organizations and individuals who have taken the time and care to put forward excellent nominees. This speaks to the growing confidence that Saskatchewan people have in our province and our economy."

A committee of senior Ministry officials will score each of the applications based on a standard set of criteria. The score sheet used for the selection process is available at http://www.ei.gov.sk.ca/Criteria.

"Once we have the Enterprise Saskatchewan Board in place and get the rest of the organization up and running in the months following, I expect interest in this initiative will grow even further," Stewart said. "From the very positive response we have received, there will be much interest in the Sector Teams and Strategic Issues Councils, who will be of significant importance to the Board."

Stewart said it is anticipated an announcement regarding the selected nominees will be made in early March.
