WOODWORTH INQUEST

An inquest into the death of Josef Woodworth will be held Friday, September 12, 2003, at 9:30 am at the Queen's Bench Courthouse, 520 Spadina Crescent East, Saskatoon.

Mr. Woodworth, aged 58, died on April 10, 2003, while under palliative care at St. Paul's Hospital. Mr. Woodworth was an inmate of the Regional Psychiatric Centre at the time of his death.

Section 20 of The Coroners Act, 1999, requires an inquest to be held into the death of any person who dies while an inmate in a jail, penitentiary, lock-up or correctional facility.

In addition to establishing when and where the death occurred and the medical cause of the death, the Coroner's jury may make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future. Inquests are open to the public.

Coroner, Dr. Barry Heath of Saskatoon will preside at the inquest.
